We rocked and bowled

The San Jose Rocks 'n' Bowls tournament/media event/fundraiser/silent auction on Wednesday night was a lot of fun and was probably a success, depending on who you were and what your goals were.
If you're 300, the former Oakridge Lanes with a very extreme makeover, I'd say you had a success. The food was great, showing off the not one, but two executive chefs the bowling alley employs to a lot of media. And the Back 9, the exclusive bowling room inside the exclusive bowling alley inspired all sorts of coveting on the lanes. Who wouldn't want to have a big party there with the private lanes and a separate bar and the soft, luxurious couches? It costs a pretty penny, though, depending on the size of your group. Four figures pretty.
If you were San Jose Rocks, it probably wasn't much of a fundraiser but it kept the idea alive and reminded everyone of what a great time they had last October. Tom Muller and Dan Orloff, the San Jose Rocks co-founders seemed to be having a great time, mingling with other musicians like Jesse Charles, the Count Five, Insolence and a few others I never got around to meeting.
I think the high score turned out to be a 197 but nobody could figure out who the guy was who bowled it. For the record, I bowled a 96 the first game (drinks involved were a Dewars and soda plus half a Fat Tire beer); second game I stepped up to a 140 with the second half of the Fat Tire and a Diet Coke. Don't drink and bowl, kids.
